News: Students joint venture to unite academia, business class By Our Correspondent LAHORE The Student's Executive Survey 2008 is a joint venture by the students of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) and Competitiveness Support Fund (CSF) which is aimed at uniting the academia and business class for the purpose of innovation. This will enhance Pakistan's position in global economic rating and community of nation. According to a press statement, these views were expressed by Rahmat-ulah-Jawad, chairman federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce Competitiveness Committee, while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony at LCWU on Saturday. He said the experience earned by the students during the survey would be helpful for their future professional life. He told the audience under the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with LCWU, the students would get the opportunity of publishing a business magazine. The FPCCI has provided the grant and infrastructure for the first business magazine of its type. LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Bushra Mateen said the executive opinion survey had broadened the vision of the students and provided them with an exposure to real economic, political, technical, financial and environmental issues. She emphasized the importance of such a shared experience in order to create a network of linkage between students and business originations. Prof Dr Riffat Saqlan, dean of Social Science, told the participants that 22 students of the university had participated in the survey and it would create professional management abilities among them. She said the survey was intended to establish a forum to foresee the economic possibilities for achieving a self sustaining economic. The chief operating officer CSF, Daud Sharif, said the idea of the survey had been initiated by the World Economic Forum to bridge the gap between the academia and business class. |
