News: Horticulture sector seeks CSF help ISLAMABAD: The Sindh horticulture sector has sought the help of Competitiveness Support Fund (CSF) to enhance its competitiveness as well as improve the quality of products. General secretary of the Sindh Abadgar Board (SAB), Mehmood Nawaz Shah and growers of mango from Sindh said approximately 1.7 million mangoes were produced in Pakistan of which less than 5 percent were exported, most of the quantity was exported on lowest price. They said there was a need to add value to mangoes in the areas where they were grown in the country. Nawaz Shah said, “That is one of the prime reasons for our turning to the CSF and need the help of Fund in establishing a value added mango processing facility at Tando Allah Yar in Sindh.” The initiative was planned to be a public private partnership so that the beneficiaries take ownership, said Arthur Bayhan, chief executive officer of the CSF. During his recent visit to Karachi, Bayhan also met with the Chief Minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah and discussed further cooperation with the new government. staff report |
