The third meeting of the NPPCEG was held Monday,October 26th, 2009 at the Marriott Hotel, Karachi. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Shahid Javed Burki and attended widely by private sector, academia, other research bodies, and government representatives. Presentations were made by the Government of Sindh regarding its economic development policies and the areas for research useful to the government. Members from the private sector and economic experts also identified the areas for policy relevant research that could be undertaken by academia and the research community .The participants also received an update on the progress to date on the assigned policy research work.

The second meeting of the NPPCEG was held Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore. The opening remarks were given by the Chief Minister, Government of Punjab, Shahbaz Sherif. The meeting was again chaired by Mr. Shahid Javed Burki. Presentations were made on the progress to date on the assignments and several member institutions made presentations on their current work. The Government of NWFP and the Government of Balochistan also made presentations about their economic policy priorities.

The inaugural meeting of the NPPCEG was held Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The opening remarks were given by Minister of State, Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Shahid Javed Burki and the members discussed a working paper he had prepared outlining 10 top policy priorities for the Platform to address. As a result of the meeting, two additional issues were added. Assignments were given to three institutions for initial work on financing to firms, the construction industry, and inovation. |
