The Competitiveness Support Fund is based on international best practices (cf. India, Thailand, Turkey, Ireland, Finland, Israel, etc.), and has been tailored to the current Pakistani economic environment to strengthen and make the private sector more competitive and to improve the policy framework needed for innovation-based competitiveness.

The Competitiveness Support Fund will support Pakistan’s goal of a more competitive economy by providing input into policy decisions, working to improve regulatory and administrative frameworks and working to enhance public-private partnerships within the country. The CSF will also provide technical assistance and co-financing for initiatives related to entrepreneurship, business incubators and private-sector led initiatives with research institutes and universities that contribute to creating a knowledge driven economy. CSF activities will help all producers along the value chain that contribute to ultimate product quality. By obtaining better value and better prices for quality products, and improving cooperation throughout the Pakistani economy, the CSF will contribute to poverty alleviation by providing more income for producers and better employment prospects for employees.

The principal objective of CSF is to: 1. Promote knowledge-based enterprise start-ups to increase the productivity of the country’s enterprises, 2. Enhance, the quality of the services and create new and better job opportunities, 3. Improve regulatory framework for viable business environment, and 4. Reinforce innovation-driven long-term economic growth.

The Competitiveness Support Fund (CSF) Islamabad currently has following positions open. 

"Senior Advisor for Industrial policy and Competitiveness"

In order to carry out the policy assistance work in CSF’s One Year Work Plan for the coming year, it is required to hire the services of an Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Advisor. The Advisor will assist in the work regarding sector policy and policies in the area of water, energy, and health as they pertain to economic growth.

"Consultant for Entrepreneurship and Market Study"

Consultants will prepare study in constant contact with DCPC. The report should be crisp and in international consulting format, graphic, analytical, drawing on global experience and knowledge and applications to Pakistan.

"Consultant for Connectivity"

This study will examine the current state of connectivity in Pakistan and its implications for economic growth. It will do so by laying special emphasis on the role of the hardware and software of connectivity in the development of a Pakistani entrepreneurial middle-class.

"Consultant for Pakistan’s Innovation Strategy"

To produce a Pakistan Innovation Strategy with policy recommendations, CSF convened a group of 50 innovation experts and stakeholders in Pakistan who provided many useful inputs and recommendations.  CSF also hired a Swedish expert in innovation, who has captured many of these recommendations and has provided inputs from other innovation strategies and his own recommendations in the report that served as the deliverable.
